As you probably noticed, my blog posts have been less and less regular.  Reason is, I am working on a new blogsite and I am so excited to share that with you, hopefully by then end of November.  For now, please check for updates, promotions, news and such on my facebook page.

My current blog will be closed once the new blogsite is up and running. :)  I hope you will visit me there.  Please stay tuned for updates.  And as always, no post should be without an image.  Here is one from a session back in October when we had all that beautiful sunshine.

On a grey day like today it is nice to remember what it was like well into October.  As I am still behind with posting, here are a few favorites from a family session I had during that time.

...are joining in for an assignment put on by Barb Uil of Jinky Art.  The assignment:  take a picture on a Wednesday with sun or sunflare in it and post the image/images on October 15th.  I am sure I am the last one to post this as I am on the Westcoast.  And as my schedule had it, the Wednesday I picked was packed with activities but I had no session.  So after a busy day we rushed down to the beach to catch the sunset.  Check out what other photographers did around the world.  The links are below.

A beautiful day for a wedding.  There was a little bit of everything, a beautiful ceremony at St. Andrews, icecream at the Beacon Drive Inn, pictures at the Delta, the Parliamentary Building and the waterfront on Dallas Road.  A perfect day for a lovely couple.  Congratulations, Elaine and Felix!

I was very excited to help my friend Rita with some of the photography of her daughter's wedding.  I wanted to make sure that Rita would be in some of the pictures.  Knowing her, she would disappear behind the camera to photograph every detail of that amazing wedding which was held at their property.  All the details were so beautifully thought out.  Rita's husband Joe build almost the entire venue.  So without further words, here are some favorites.  Please check out the beautiful photography Rita already posted on her facebook page.   Congratulations, Alexandra and Fergus!

 

josienne & lee, 4 august 2012 {victoria wedding photographer}

We had a fun time photographing Josienne and Lee's wedding.  Even though it was a very hot weekend, everybody stayed cool and relaxed.  Thanks so much Josienne, Lee and the entire bridal party for making our job easy.  Congratulations!

My summer has been so busy with sessions, family visiting from Europe and trips around the island and into the interior.  So no wonder, I am behind with my editing and blogging.   Here are a few favorites from a session I had in the early part of summer.  Thank you to all my families for waiting so patiently for their portraits.

I have been neglecting my blog for good over a week now and need to catch up on all the great family sessions I had lately.  Meeting this family again after one year was really nice.  I took portraits of this little man when he was a newborn and seeing him one year later is so wonderful.

We had a great time doing this session.  Our theme, travel.  And because I forgot to bring two more signs, we traveled to Paris only. :)  The girls were amazing models, and that with only 11 years going onto 12.  Thank you to my assistant for the day, Sharon, who did a wonderful job with hair and makeup. Thank you to  the mother's of my models who supplied me with all these wonderful props and clothes.  I know some people are very anxious to see these pictures, so I will post lots, more than I normally do.  Enjoy and leave a comment if you like it. :)

So many beautiful images from this session.  This young lady is turning 4 this year and I have been taking her pictures every year.  She was so excited to see me and was so ready to have her pictures taken.  She even made the beautiful hearts with her mom.

We had another great day for a wildflower session in the park.  I photographed this family a few years back, so it was great to meet them all again.

This beautiful baby girl was just 5 days old when I photographed her last week.  So precious and tiny.

an afternoon at the beach {victoria children's photographer}

Last weekend we met at Willows Beach to take some family pictures.  An overcast day, not too cold, a few drizzles, but beautiful even light for some great captures.  I have known both children since they were newborns and I have taken their pictures over the past few years.  It never stops to amaze me how quickly they change and I love to see their different personalities grow and shine.

I had so much fun photographing this young lady.  She was chatty, curious, and super cute.  And she brought along her big Bernese Mountain Dog which we tried to get in the picture as well.  A bit of a challenge because he liked the ocean too much and ended up in the water many times.  And thanks to mom, we had lots of colorful outfits and props to play with.

This session was in the planning stages for months.  My friend Erin organized the amazing dresses (which are for sale on Etsy if you are interested in purchasing them).  Bridget was kind enough to let us use them for this shoot.  Hair and makeup was done by Erin who really rocked.  She also helped me with all the other minor and major details of this session.  And the girls, well, the girls were so excited, it was easy to get great pictures of them.  They were totally into it and had a lot of fun, so did Erin and I.  Lots and lots of images, but here are just a few I liked.  If you are interested in having a styled session done, please drop me a line.

This was a lovely family session in the park.  I photographed the now big brother a long time ago.  Since then, they had a new addition to the family, a sweet little girl.  Here a few favorites from their session.

Can't wait to meet the next addition to this lovely family.  The little guy was quite the character and stole my heart.  We never told him to show his belly off, just a natural thing to do for him.  Mom has a belly, he has a belly that needs to be seen.

Ahh, spring.  Finally we can go out without freezing and take pictures.  This little cutie turned 6 months.  A serious little girl who takes in everything.  I even brought our little dog to get some smiles from her.

First engagement session of this year.  I am looking forward to documenting the couple's upcoming wedding in August.

These three are just too cute.  The two older ones are very proud of their little sister, now six months old.  I am looking forward to meeting them again in six months.

the other side of a portrait session {victoria baby and children photographer}

Parents love to see their little ones happy and smiling.  I think we all do because we love the sound of their little happy voices and their giggles and smiles.  During the course of any session, there are moments, when there are meltdowns, tears, and just typical moments in a life of a baby or toddler.  I seldom post these pictures but I do have lots of them.  I love the tender moments when a parent tries to sooth their child.  Like the image below.  It is one of my favorites from that session.  

This young lady wanted to hold the baby and was mad at her sister.  Her expression is priceless.

I love photographing this little girl.  I have known her since she was a baby.  She does not like to be separated from her mom, and is most happy in mom's arms.

And then there are the kids who don't know what to make of me with my camera.  I could really tell he did not want me in his space.  Eventually I captured some fun moments, but I do love his sceptical expression in that image.

This beautiful little girl turned one in December.  She has the most infectious smile.  Love photographing her.

The year is almost coming to an end and Christmas just a few weeks away.  This family was so wonderful to brave the cold weather and the kids had fun running around and warming up.

"Mensch Aerger Dich Nicht" is a very popular German board game and it means "Don't Get Angry".  One of my favorite families was all up for a game and we started our family session indoors playing.  Here are just a few favs.
