I was very excited to help my friend Rita with some of the photography of her daughter's wedding. I wanted to make sure that Rita would be in some of the pictures. Knowing her, she would disappear behind the camera to photograph every detail of that amazing wedding which was held at their property. All the details were so beautifully thought out. Rita's husband Joe build almost the entire venue. So without further words, here are some favorites. Please check out the beautiful photography Rita already posted on her facebook page. Congratulations, Alexandra and Fergus!
I was looking for something on my computer and came across a family album I made for my mother a long time ago. I had scanned all the really old and precious family pictures into the computer and designed a book for her. These are images of my grandparents and great grandparents and I love them, I really really love them. This is history, this is my family, the family that is long gone and lives on in us. The image I posted below is a wedding, I don't know whose wedding it is, I know my grandma and her parents are in this picture. If you look closely, there is a little girl in the front and she is holding a wilted flower and her white tights are dirty. This is what makes this picture so special for me. Everybody is really stiff, but you know that this little girl played just before the picture was taken and might have gotten in trouble because now her clothes are dirty. She creates a connection to other kids I have seen in many weddings I have taken over the years. Maybe I have taken a similar picture and someone many years from now will look at it and try to create their own story from the family portrait.
Joy and Nick had a beautiful celebration at Glendale Gardens. The couple was surrounded by a sacred circle of family and friends where they exchanged their vows to each other. Their wedding consisted of a French themed picnic, mixed with a potpourri of gingham, polka dots and donkeys. Thank you for letting us be a part of your day. Congratulations, Joy and Nick!
Karen and Wade tied their knot on Saturday at St. Philips in Oak Bay. A fully packed church and a lovely ceremony. We then headed out for some other locations around town to do some fun pictures with the couple and bridal party. Lots of fun! Interesting enough, the groom's dad had recommended me for the wedding coverage. A very seasoned and experienced wedding photographer himself who graciously stepped aside to let me take over for one afternoon. Here are a few highlights from their day. Congratulations, Karen and Wade! Have a wonderful honeymoon!
Cara and Kevin tied their knot in a beautiful setting, the Craidellona in Sooke. A wonderful sunny day with a fresh breeze off the ocean. We could not have asked for a better day. Cara looked gorgeous and Kevin equally handsome. Everybody was wonderful to work with and thank you for letting us be a part of your day. Congratulations, Cara and Kevin!
Erin and Oliver tied their knot at the Brentwood Bay Resort. A beautiful event celebrated with close friends and family. Congratulations, Erin and Oliver!
A big thank you to the very talented Jen Steele for second shooting the event. So much fun working with you.
Maura and Shawn tied their knot at the beautiful Starling Lane Winery on Old Saanich Road. An amazing venue with different garden settings, wonderful old buildings and so many more details. Friends and family gathered for the ceremony and we had some time after to capture some beautiful and fun images. The dinner reception was held at the Sea Cider Farm and Cider House. All flowers were arranged by the amazing Vanessa from Verbana Floral Design.
Congratulations, Maura and Shawn and enjoy your honey moon!
And here are some details from bouquets Vanessa put together. I wish these flowers would all grow in my garden and I could put them in little mason jars and antique sugar bowls like she did. So country and so pretty.
This was our first coverage of an East Indian wedding. We are so grateful to have had the chance to cover this event as it is such a feast for the eyes and a truly cultural experience. Thank you Jasmine and Charan for letting us be a part of your wedding day. I have so many images to share, but will try to keep it down to some favorites. Congratulations, Jasmine and Charan!
Jasmine's bracelet ceremony was a beautiful event held at sunset. The ceremony is done by a Hindu priest, the Pandit. The bracelets, which were selected and bought in India by Jasmine's relatives, are to be worn for 40 days. Traditionally it meant that the bride does not have to do any work in her new home for this time. Here are just a few favorites of the ceremony. Lots of hand pictures, because they were just so beautiful.
I usually update my website once a year, not often enough, I know. These past days with snow and cold were perfect to finally get this job done. My portrait/commercial site is finished and my wedding site will be done this weekend, hopefully. So if you feel like checking out the latest images from last year, please click here. Comments are always welcome.
Avalon and Brian had a beautiful wedding in Sidney. Their ceremony took place in the beautiful little church on West Saanich Road, Our Lady of the Assumption R.C. Church. Later on they took a Zodiac to the reception site and were announced by the Town crier. The reception took place at the Sidney Pier Hotel and was amazingly decorated by Candace and Holly from Tie the Knot Wedding and Events. Congratulations, Avalon and Brian!
I am slowly catching up to my August weddings. Thank you to all my couples for being so patient waiting for their images to be processed.
Jac-Lyn and Max tied their knot during a Jewish ceremony at the UVic chappel. The reception was held at the Uplands Golfcourse, beautifully decorated by Barbara Hastings McLeod and Sarah Richey of Sweet Beginnings. Jac-Lyn was a striking bride and Max equally handsome. Congratulations, Jac-Lyn and Max!
Kanako and Steve tied their knot at the Hycroft Manor in Vancouver. An absolutely stunning building with beautiful rooms, spectacular columns and a lovely backyard. As I don't know Vancouver that well, I was very grateful for Kanako's and Steve's driver who showed us to a variety of different locations. We had a busy afternoon and lots of fun. Congratulations, Kanako and Steve!
Amanda and Richard tied their knot at Butcharts Gardens. A lovely ceremony in the winter garden with close friends and family. We even lucked out and had some March sunshine for some outdoor pictures. Congratulations, Amanda and Richard!
My head is still buzzing from yesterday. It was such a great experience that I will participate in the exhibition again next year. We had so much fun chatting with brides, grooms and mothers of the brides.
